Firewater Films
Short Film Series at Show World
First Friday of each month, 7PM
Eighth Avenue at 42nd Street
New York City

Every summer's day on the streets of New York, there are over twenty film crews at work making independent short films -- but until now there has been no year-round venue where those films can be seen. Firewater Films is that venue.

Firewater Films was founded in September of 1998, with the purpose of using the former adult movie houses in Times Square as screening centers for what is now the calling card of a new generation of filmmakers -- the short film. Providing a forum created by filmmakers for filmmakers and their audiences, the Firewater series is keeping experimental and independent art alive in the heart of the city.

Firewater is bringing back the short film, recognizing the short as a viable entertainment form on its own and offering the public the chance to enjoy its innovation and variety. The Firewater Series is dedicated to upholding a high level of art and commitment to the film community. By screening a variety of short films - from narrative to documentary, from traditional to experimental - in a Vegas style lounge with cafe seating and a connected billiards room, Firewater Films provides a stylish year-round venue in which we can share and celebrate the great new work in film today.
